Remote Freshwater Fishing for Alaskan Salmon & Trout
In addition to fabulous saltwater fishing, Ketchikan offers spectacular freshwater fishing experiences for both spin and fly fishermen. Spend the day with our guide, Rick Collins, flying or boating to a remote lake or stream and fishing for salmon and trout.
Your trip will start by boarding a flight onboard a DeHavilland Beaver around 8am and flying to one of the many pristine lakes or streams in the Tongass National Forest or in the Misty Fjords National Monument. Lake selection will be based on fish availability, scenery, and weather conditions and every effort will be made to select lakes and streams that are not occupied by other fishermen. Freshwater trips can be more physically demanding than our guided saltwater trips, largely due to uneven terrain, hiking requirements, and getting in and out of the airplane. Although certain accommodations can be made, it is recommended that clients who choose freshwater fishing be in good physical condition.
In case of inclement weather, we also offer freshwater fishing trips accessible by boat and a short hike. Once you are streamside, Rick will provide casting lessons for those interested, will help in locating fish, and can set you up with the flies and lures that local fish are sure to love! Spin casting rods are also available upon request.
Guided freshwater fishing trips are catch and release only and include a licensed and insured guide, safety equipment, rain jacket, and fishing equipment. Fishing equipment includes a fly rod (or spin casting rod), flies (or spinners), and Gore-Tex waders.
